With the ‘Phillies Karen‘ trend already etched in infamous history of viral videos, a Milwaukee Brewers fan has also gained attention for all the wrong reasons this past week. The woman, now identified as Shannon Kobylarczyk, soared on internet searches after her appearance at the Game 2 of the National League Championship Series.
While there, she was seen threatening a Latino Dodgers fan that she would “Call ICE” (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) on him — an incident that has since led to her being sacked from her job. On top of that, the Milwaukee Brewers has also banned her from the stadium in light of the incident.
Viral ‘Brewers Karen’ moment: What happened between the baseball fans
Now dubbed the ‘Brewers Karen,’ the baseball fan became the centre of controversial headlines after the person on the other side of the confrontation, Ricardo Fosado, captured the development on his phone. The situation slipped out of hand as the Dodgers flipped the game around following a disappointing streak on Tuesday night (US time). As the Los Angeles Dodgers started scoring, a shift in the audience’s mood didn’t go unnoticed.
The Latino fan of the team made it a point to call out the changing attitude at American Family Field after Enrique Hernandez hit a leadoff double. “Why’s everybody quiet? What is this,” he’s heard calling out in the viral video.
His words ultimately spurred a woman to speak her mind as well. “Let’s call ICE,” she voiced out. While trash talking to the Dodger fan, she also yelled, “Real men drink beer (expletive),” taking a dig at his choice of drink.
As a result, Fosado responded to the retort, hitting back hard with remarks, “Call ICE, call ICE. I’m a US citizen. War veteran baby girl. Two wars. ICE can not do anything to me.” Kobylarczyk eventually struck at the man’s phone.
Fosado, on the other hand, has since told he Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Brewers fan reported him to security, prompting him and his friend to be escorted out. “I was like the only one wearing Dodgers gear, putting it in my face that Milwaukee scored,” he further detailed how the woman turned the match into a bad experience for him. “But as the game progressed, the atmosphere changed, it was a little more quiet.”

Brewers Karen fired from job after viral video – baseball fan loses 2 jobs
Within less than 24 hours of her going viral for her problematic admission and being identified, she was let go by her employer, ManPower Group, staffing company based in Milwaukee.
“As soon as we became aware of this video the individual was placed on immediate leave and we began an investigation. As a result of this process, the employee is no longer with the organization. We remain committed to maintaining a culture grounded in respect, integrity, and accountability,” the organisation issued the statement, as per Fox 11 Los Angeles.
The outlet further reported that the Brewers Karen, aka Shannon Kobylarczyk, had resigned from her post as a board member of the Wisconsin branch of the Make a Wish Foundation.
“Shannon Kobylarczyk resigned from the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin Board of Directors on Wednesday, October 15, effective immediately. Make-A-Wish Wisconsin does not condone nor agree with Kobylarczyk’s words and actions,” representative for the nonprofit told Yahoo News.
Fosado, a US citizen of Mexican heritage has also spoken out against Kobylarczyk’s firing. “I don’t think it was like horrible or something that should get her fired. I feel bad for her,” he said. “We cannot be judged on one mistake, and a lot of emotions were involved. It was just hurt feelings, nobody physically hurt anybody.”
Milwaukee Brewers on the viral baseball fan altercation
In a statement to Yahoo News, the Milwaukee Brewers said on Thursday, “The Brewers expect all persons attending games to be respectful of each other, and we do not condone in any way offensive statements fans make to each other about race, gender, or national origin. Our priority is to ensure that all in attendance have a safe and enjoyable experience at the ballpark.”
Also addressing Fosado’s ejection from the stadium, the team revealed that the Milwaukee Police Department had dealt with him as he reportedly indulged in “disorderly conduct and public intoxication” apart from what was depicted in the video, “Separately, video shows that the other individual involved in the argument became physical in the course of her interactions with the person who was ejected,” they added.
Consequently, both Shannon Kobylarczyk, aka the ‘Brewers Karen,’ and Ricardo Fosado, the Latino Dodgers fan, have been banned from American Family Field in Milwaukee, as per the ‘Guest Code of Conduct’ pertaining to ejections and physical confrontations.
