Former Infosys CFO TV Mohandas Pai has sharply criticised the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in Karnataka as the Chief Minister reviewed the damages caused by the rain in Bengaluru. The Padma Shri awardee expressed frustration over the government’s “repeated promises and repeated failures” as it completes two years in office.

The chairman of Aarin Capital further said that the government spent money on freebies but “Bengaluru got nothing”, pointing out as to how rains brought the city to a standstill.

“Big Big Failure of govt,” said Pai on X (formerly Twitter).

He went on to say, “After 2 years, 100,000 cr spent on freebies, paid by Bengaluru what did we get? Total collapse of our city.”

Tagging both CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, he added, “Drains are not cleared, potholes not fully fixed, repeated promises, repeated failures.”

Seemingly upset with the current government’s work in the state, he asked, “When will this govt work? Is there any governance or credibility left?”

He also responded to a post by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) that claimed waterlogging in the Mahadevapura zone had been cleared after silt was removed from shoulder drains. “Due to heavy rain, waterlogging at ORR in the Mahadevapura zone has been cleared by removing silt from the shoulder drains, allowing water to flow freely,” wrote BBMP while sharing pictures on X.

“This is a regular maintenance job. Why was this not done earlier in preparation for the rains?” he asked.

Earlier in the day, Pai had posted, “Giving away 60000cr of tax payers money is the easier thing to do. Giving money to really poor, not more than 20% for India’s richest state is ok but not 60%.”

“What Kannadigas need is good schooling( see the low passes in SSLC, PUC- really pathetic, Kalburgi very low passes are a crime), good HE to give skills for better employment, good infrastructure for industry to invest- pl see the pathetic condition of Bengaluru. This is a big, big shame. Kannadigas do not want doles and doles but need good jobs, good jobs,” he added.

He also talked about Siddaramaiah’s previous tenures, both as chief minister and finance minister. “You were FM for 10 years, reduced deficit hugely, made the state better, you were CM for 7+ years, did well except the last 2 years,” he further expressed, before adding, “Why this sudden shift to doles and doles out of borrowings and revenue deficits?”

“Please invest for good high quality education skills, infra and jobs for our youth. Kannadiga parents want this for  their children,” he ended his social media post with a plea.
