The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) recently denied the rumours about the United Arab Emirates(UAE) granting lifetime Golden Visas. With mixed reactions from netizens, they did not hold back with a plethora of reactions.

What was the rumour about?

The inaccurate rumour shared that Indians could attain a lifetime Golden Visa for the UAE by paying a fee of Rs 23 lakh. Authorities completely denied the claims and the official statement read, “Legal action will be taken against entities spreading such false information in an attempt to illegally collect money from individuals aspiring to live and reside in the UAE, exploiting their hopes for a dignified and secure life.”

The rumour allegedly originated from a consultancy called Rayad Group. It claimed that the UAE had chosen to rest a “nomination-based Golden Visa” in India. The firm claimed that Indians could enjoy a lifetime residency in the UAE by paying a fee of AED 1,00,000 or nearly Rs 23 lakh.

“Stick to memes, not migration myths”

“Oh, dear X influencers peddling that ‘lifetime Golden Visa for Indians’ scam? Turns out, UAE said ‘nah,’ and your 1.4B hype train crashed!!!” shared a user on X.

A user even shared a QR code on X saying that they are “raising funds for getting a UAE golden visa”. They shared a Google Pay screenshot on X to afford the Rs 23 lakh migration fees.

This rumour even spread to Reddit where a user commented to the news saying, “Half of india would be in the UAE if they gave a lifetime visa for 23L.”

A user shared an clip from an old movie on X showing passengers jumping on a ship from a Bollywood Film. A character is shown shouting “Dubai! Dubai! Dubai! Write letters to your homeland!”

Users even went to AI assistants and verified the claim shared by other media houses. The AI-generated response quashed the rumour and said that “it appears to be misleading”.

Financial Express Online, however, was the first to question these rumours. Redditors found it hard to believe and claimed that the “amount seems too low”.
