Independence Day 2025: As Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), one of the most popular quiz shows in India, made at OTT release, the decorated host, Amitabh Bachchan, is set to welcome some personalities of Operation Sindoor. However, the internet does not seem too happy with this effort.

Headlining the operation with daunting valour, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force and Commander Prerna Deosthalee of the Indian Navy are expected to narrate key moments, as per KBC’s Independence Day promo. On social media, however, the government is being slammed for chasing clout. “Operation Sindoor will be milked till the last drop,” wrote a user on Reddit.

‘Never have I seen our Armed Forces reduced to being cheerleaders’

Condemning the blatant reiteration of the military operation, netizens were not impressed with the Armed Forces “being reduced to cheerleaders” of the government.

A user opined that “there must be a firm line between the State and the Army.” Warning that a failure of which could foster “partisanship in the Armed forces, over the generations.” Adding further, they wrote, ” this government lacks in thinking of the future and everything it does is to win the next State election or maintain that week’s news headlines,” calling it a slippery slope.

In the promo, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh reiterated the successful targeted military strike. “Raat ko ek baj kar paanch minute se lekar dedh baje tak, pachhis minute me khel khatam kar diya. [From 1:05 AM to 1:30 AM at night, we completed the entire mission in just 25 minutes].”

Calling this a “new low for PR”, users coined the term “Sindoor Juicing”, where every public appearance became a chance for promoting the government’s motives and accusing the government of “dragging the Army in politics”.

Some even blamed the former party in power and leaders like Indira Gandhi for not doing “enough to contain corruption” and linked this move with “the use of organized criminals in politics.” In turn, the user hypothesised that it led to fear-mongering among the voters and formed a pattern relying on arm-twisting tactics.

Commander Prerna, in the KBC promo, was heard lauding the planning, execution, and precision of the mission, stating that only military sites were targeted, not civilians. With multiple political leaders reinforcing that Operation Sindoor wasn’t over, Colonel Qureshi was seen saying, “Yeh ek naya Bharat, nayi soch ke saath hai. [This is the new India, with a new vision].”

Despite the criticism online, the oozing patriotism and feeling of nationalism aims to set the tone right for the first key event in India’s history since Operation Sindoor. After seeing atrocious conditions during the Pahalgam Terror Attack, India united, leaving political apprehensions behind, to take a stand against pro-terrorism countries.
