Green Park Stadium in Kanpur will host a cricket match between Indian Army officers and a team comprising Members of Parliament, senior IPS officers, and civil servants under the banner of the Operation Sindoor Cup 2025.

The match, scheduled for June 29, has been conceptualised by Kanpur MP Ramesh Awasthi and is expected to attract a sizeable local audience. Brigadier Shabberul Hasan will lead the Army team.

According to organisers, the match aims to highlight coordination between various pillars of public service. “This is not just cricket,” said MP Awasthi at the trophy unveiling event held on Saturday. “It is our tribute to every soldier and citizen who keeps India strong.”

School students, local officials and security personnel were present at the unveiling, where the trophy was introduced as a representation of the occasion’s theme.

The event is set to bring together individuals from different branches of public life on the cricket field. Organisers say the idea is to emphasise cooperation and mutual respect across sectors.

The match will take place at a time when public engagement with institutional collaboration remains a key topic. Green Park will temporarily serve as a venue where players from defence and governance share a common ground.
