US President Donald Trump rolled out at an actual red carpet to welcome his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at their Alaska summit to breach the concept of a peace deal amid Russia’s war in Ukraine. Although their nearly three-hour meeting at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage didn’t reach a conclusive decision, the MAGA leader surely became the focus of social media trends after the event.

While Trump and Putin sat down behind closed doors for their initial interaction before a joint press conference, sped-up videos of the US leader’s arrival at the scene earned more precedence on X for controversial reasons. A flurry of posts flooded the SNS platform, drawing attention to visuals of Trump descending the Air Force One aircraft and walking down the red carpet laid out ahead as he waited to greet Putin at the very spot.

Netizens troll Trump’s walk in Alaska

In an unbelievably ludicrous fashion, videos of Trump’s walk down the carpet went viral on the platform. Many took note of how the American president appeared to waddle down the path while failing to walk in a straight line.

This particular series of similar-toned tweets not only consumed the website, but also instantly revived questions surrounding potential health concerns perturbing the 79-year-old politician. The whole ordeal also rung in deafening waves of major deja vu, as netizens couldn’t help but recall Trump trolling former President Joe Biden for the same reason.

“Trump couldn’t even walk in a straight line to greet Putin; stumbling like a man who just met gravity for the first time,” wrote a user. “World stage, red carpet, and he’s out here looking like a malfunctioning Roomba.” Someone else wondered, “Can any doctors tell me. Why is Trump struggling to walk in a straight line?”

Yet another popular account that goes by the handle ‘Meidas Touch,’ and is followed by the likes of actors Ryan Reynolds, Sophia Bush, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Stiller, Elizabeth Bank and others, wrote, “Trump struggled to walk in a straight line as he went to greet Putin.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper dragged into fold over Trump’s red carpet walk

An X user replied under the same post, saying, “If Biden did this, Jake Tapper would have written 64 books on it, FOX would have done a 72 episode documentary, and Rob Reiner would have done a movie on it.”

Many others danced to the same beat on X, invoking Jake Tapper’s name. A user tagged his official X account and wrote: “This old president can’t even walk a straight line, are you gonna write a book about this?”

A few others also joked about how Trump would fail a sobriety test. When someone said this was exactly how they walk because they have a “bad back and feet,” another poster replied, “To be fair this is how I walk after several tequilas and a round of golf.”

Yet another person tweeted, “It should really be bigger news that Donald Trump can’t walk in a straight line and would fail a basic sobriety check but is being permitted to meet with heads of hostile foreign states. Can someone get @jaketapper on this?”

Why Jake Tapper, Rob Reiner became the butt of the Trump memes

For the unversed, Jake Tapper happens to be the very CNN anchor whose co-authored bombshell book titled “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again” hit the shelves in May 2025. The renowned journalist dives deep into “the damning story of Joe Biden’s decline while in office — and the desperate attempts of his inner circle to hide it from the American people,” according to Amazon.

Earlier this year, Biden’s office announced that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer. However, questions surrounding his allegedly deteriorating cognitive abilities and mental fitness had long gotten the public up in arms. These claims especially peaked towards the end of the Democratic leader’s presidential term in 2024, which also ended with him pulling the plug on his re-election campaign for 2025.

Rob Reiner, on the other hand, is a famous Hollywood name who called for Biden to “step aside” after he revealed his old age during his infamous first presidential debate against Trump last year. Despite honouring the politician, the director firmly stated that the only way the Democrats could effectively rival Trump was with another candidate (someone like Kamala Harris).

Trump health concern sparked afresh with Alaska summit videos

Much like Biden, who still often suffers the rough end of Trump’s diatribes, the Republican leader’s recent public appearances have cast doubt on his mental acuity as well. Someone in the X comments section went as far as relying on Grok to decode Trump’s supposed diagnosis. “Grok estimates and 85% likelihood that Trump has early-stage dementia,” they added with a screenshot of the xAI chatbot’s message.

“Based on 2025 analyses from experts like Gartner (citing confabulation, paraphasia, gait decline) and family Alzheimer’s risk (2-3x elevated), contrasted with the White House health reports, my assessment is an 85% likelihood of early dementia. Speculative without exam,” the answer read.

Just over a month ago, reports of the president’s nephew, Fred Trump III, indicating claims of eye-opening family history of dementia amplified these concerns. The “All in the Family: The Trumps” author said during an appearance on The Dean Obeidallah Show on SiriusXM, “I know what I saw in my grandfather,” he said of the POTUS’ father, Fred Trump Sr.

He also contradicted the MAGA leader’s claims about his own father, saying, “You know, Donald said, ‘Oh, my father was tiptop until the end.’ I can assure you, that was not the case.” Fred’s sister, Mary Trump, aka the president’s niece, had a similar observation.

On the contrary, White House physician Sean Barbarella firmly asserted the 79-year-old is in “excellent health,” citing a standard mental test, which said his “Cognitive function, assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), was normal with a score of 30 out of 30.”
