The Indian Premier League (IPL) has evolved far beyond a cricket tournament, it is now a cultural phenomenon. And few teams capture that spirit quite like Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Despite being packed with star power and having one of the most passionate fanbases in the league, RCB is still chasing its first IPL title. This persistent title drought has become a source of endless memes—and even light-hearted fan-led initiatives.

Tapping into the fun and frustration that defines RCB’s fan culture, content creator Sarthak Sachdeva launched a hilarious social experiment. He printed QR codes linked to his digital payment account, captioned with the phrase, “Donate Rs 10 for RCB Goodluck,” and posted them across city streets—on poles, walls, and street corners.

The video captures him applying the stickers calmly, not hoping for much. But what was initially a tongue-in-cheek proposition soon snowballed. Intrigued fans began to scan the codes and actually send money—maybe out of devotion, hope, or sheer amusement. Sarthak had Rs 1,200 by the end of the day from complete strangers, showing just how far RCB fans will go for good karma (and good content).

Fans react as RCB chases glory

The clip went viral online, gaining more than 3.5 million views and a barrage of side-splitting comments. Users quipped that the concept was a new business idea while another said, “Iske baad agr RCB na jeete toh ro dungi.” The blend of humor and absolute optimism reflects the true nature of RCB fandom—exasperated, devoted, and always ready with a joke.

Meanwhile, RCB is riding high in the IPL 2025 season. They have seven victories in ten matches and are second on the points table. What’s interesting is that all those wins have been in away matches. At home, especially at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, their performance has faltered—a cause for concern since three of their next four matches are at home.

With playoffs on the horizon, RCB will take more than a stroke of good fortune QR codes to make it all the way. But if this viral moment is anything, it’s that their supporters are willing to believe in anything for that coveted title.
