Shakti Dubey has emerged as the topper of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2024, the results for which were announced earlier today. This achievement marks a significant milestone, not only for Dubey but also as she shares the top two positions with fellow female candidate, Harshita Goyal, who secured the second rank.

Dubey, a native of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, took to the social media platform X/Twitter to express her elation and inspire others with her journey. Having completed her schooling and graduation in Prayagraj, Dubey holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Allahabad and a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Banaras Hindu University. In a previous interview with Chahal Academy, she revealed that her dedicated preparation for the prestigious examination spanned six years, commencing in 2018.  

Shakti Dubey’s Motivation

Driven by a strong sense of public service, Dubey cited her family background as a key motivator. “My father is in police service, and I have seen him working,” she shared. “Initially, I thought it was just a job, but later, during my time at the BHU hostel, I realised the sense of security a police presence brings, even late at night. I understood how a small amount of power can bring significant change and how public service, in general, benefits people. This is what initially attracted me to government service.”
