Working abroad is one of the dreams that most of the Indians workforce aspire to achieve and one of the reasons for this is better flexibility as well as work-life balance. A video by an Indian employee at a firm in Netherlands has sparked the debate yet again with people praising the western people for their “discipline” during in office, “etiquette’s and culture!”.

Jyoti Saini, a Chartered Accountant working in Netherlands recently made a video that she also shared on social media. In the video, she shows her office after 5 pm (the closing time).

“It’s 5.10 pm, and look at my office…there’s not a single person in the office,” she is heard saying in the video as she shows the office which is empty. The lights seemed to switched off with no soul visible in the office. But what made the post viral was the caption.

‘Bring just one…’

The video was shared on X by Dinesh Wadera, member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), who mentioned that Jyoti Saini posted the video with a “witty caption”.

“Jyoti Saini, CA from India, currently working in the Netherlands, recently went viral after posting a video showing her office clearing out exactly at 5 PM. With a witty caption.”

And her caption is – “Bring just one Indian manager here, and things will be different.”

“She humorously pointed out the sharp contrast between Europe’s strict work-life balance and India’s long office hours, igniting a lively online discussion about global work culture and productivity,” Wadera said.

Internet praises Europe’s work culture

In the comment section of the X post, netizens highlighted the small but crucial habits that people in Europe inculcate to make the work place stress-free.

“Lol…Indians spend half their work hours on social media. Europeans, atleast where I work, hardly get distracted during work hours. I am in the design department, & none touches their phone during work hours. Their 8 hrs work is 8 hrs, our 8 hrs in office is hardly 4 hrs work,” a user said.

To this, Dinesh replied, “No doubt, westerners are more disciplined towards their work.”

“The best part is that after office hours, if your boss or client needs to talk, they first text to schedule a call,” mentioned another user. Dinesh agreed to this and said that nothing can beat “Europian etiquette’s and culture!”

An X user put out a number of reasons for the differences that are there between Indian workplaces and those in other countries.

“Indians kam nahi karte , 7 hours daily hardwork is more than enough …….lekin fir Politics , unnecesaary PPTs , Boss ki chatna , iski uski chugli karna , Less manpower , more leaders ..ye sab reasons hain,” he said.

One person also mentioned how discussing country’s politics in Indian officers are also very common.
