Imagine waking up one morning and seeing Rs 2,817 crore in your account. A recent incident in Madhya Pradesh has stunned the internet and left everyone in disbelief. Vinod Dongle, a notary lawyer and private school owner from Dhamnod, became the luckiest person in the world for a few magical minutes when a digital glitch made him a billionaire.
Account glitch makes lawyer billionaire
Dongle was checking his demat account as he normally does. But this time, something truly bizarre caught his eye. His account showed 1,312 shares of Harsil Agro Limited, and each share was priced at over Rs 2.14 crore. When he did the math, the total came to a jaw-dropping Rs 28,17,41,29,408!
“For a few minutes,” Dongle told NDTV, “I thought my life had changed overnight. It felt like winning every lottery in the world.” But, as quickly as it appeared, the magic diminished. Within minutes, the prices corrected themselves, and his account went back to normal. Just like that, Dongle’s billionaire status vanished into thin air.
Still, he said with a laugh, “It was like a once-in-a-lifetime trick by technology,” he said. “No hard feelings, I just enjoyed the few minutes of digital magic.” He added, “It was also a wish that 2817 crore rupees were shown as balance in my account, which was fulfilled today, even if for a short time.”
Experts say glitches like this happen sometimes because of temporary system errors or mismatched data in stock market databases. Sometimes, glitches or delayed updates in trading systems make stock prices fluctuate, turning someone into a “digital billionaire” for a few moments. In Dongle’s case, the shares of Harsil Agro Limited were mistakenly priced at crores per share, causing the jaw-dropping account balance.
Even though Dongle didn’t get to keep the billions, his story went viral in both Dhamnod and online.
