Singer Udit Narayan recently sparked controversy after a video surfaced online showing him kissing female fans on the lips during his live performance of Tip Tip Barsa Paani. The footage quickly went viral, leading to widespread backlash over his inappropriate behavior. Amid the uproar, Udit’s friend and fellow singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya playfully addressed the situation, calling Udit a “khiladi.”
Abhijeet shared a video on Instagram that showcased their performances of the iconic track Main Khiladi Tu Anari from the 1994 film, accompanied by the caption, “#YehKhiladiMainAnari😂🤦♂️.” In the comments section, he added, “Mera Khiladi dost.”
In response to the viral incident, Udit defended his actions on Saturday, calling himself a “decent” person. Speaking to media, he explained, “Fans get so passionate, you know. We are not like that, we are decent people. Some fans show their love this way, and it’s something we can’t control.” He went on to say that people who show such affection do so out of admiration, and there’s little one can do to change it.
Udit also suggested that the controversy surrounding the kissing video may have an ulterior motive, pointing out that his family’s reputation often attracts unnecessary attention. He further mentioned that even his son, Aditya Narayan, prefers to stay “chup chaap” and avoids getting embroiled in such controversies.
Reflecting on the fervor of his fans, Udit said, “There is madness when I am singing on stage, fans love me, I think let them be happy. Otherwise iss type ke log hum hain hi nahi. Humein bhi unko khush karna hota hai.”
