Yogeshwar Dutt, who suffered a first-round exit in 65kg men’s freestyle wrestling against Mongolia’s Ganzorigiin Mandakhnaran at Rio Olympics, was trolled by Salman Khan fans on Twitter. As soon as Salman was appointed India’s goodwill ambassador at Rio Olympics, Yogeshwar was the first to question actor’s credentials for the job. Yogeshwar had said that many legends like Milkha Singh and PT Usha are still alive for the job and Salman’s appointment was not required. Venting out his anger on social media, he had said that Olympics are not a stage for movie promotion.
“Kahi bhi ja Kar apni movie ka promotion kare, Es desh me adhikar hai Lekin Olympic movie promotion ki jagah Nahi. PT Usha,Milkha Singh jaise bade sports star hai jinhone kathin samay me desh ke liye mehnat ki. Khel ke kshetra me Es ambassador ne Kya kiya(sic)”, Dutt had tweeted just after the Dabangg star’s appointment for Indian contingent’s ambassador at Rio Olympics.
However, wrestler’s defeat gave a chance to Salman’s fans to hit-back at him. They took no time to make unnecessary rants against Yogeshwar to add insult to his injury. Here are some of the Tweets:

Along with wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, legendary sprinter Milkha Singh had also raised questions on the actor’s appointment. Singh had questioned ‘the motive’ behind appointing a Bollywood superstar instead of a sportsperson as the ambassador.

However, defending Salman in the face of this rising criticism was his father Salim Khan. Salim Khan had said that his son is a swimmer, cyclist and even a weightlifter. Taking to Twitter, Salim wrote, “Salman may not have competed but is an A list swimmer, cyclist and weight lifter. Sportsmen are performing because of sports lovers like us.” Taking on Milkha Singh, Salim said, “It’s not Bollywood industry but the Indian film industry which is the largest in the world.”
