Indian cricket legend and newly appointed Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid showcased his unwavering dedication by attending the franchise’s IPL pre-season training session despite sustaining a leg injury during a local league match.
A video shared by Rajasthan Royals on their official social media handle captured Dravid’s arrival at the training camp in a golf cart before switching to crutches for mobility. Although his left leg was secured in a medical walking boot, the former India head coach remained actively engaged, interacting with players and offering guidance.

Dravid was seen having a conversation with young talents like Riyan Parag and sharing a moment with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who demonstrated shadow shots while seeking advice from the legendary batter. Seated with crutches in hand, Dravid closely observed the entire session on Wednesday.
The Royals confirmed that Dravid picked up the injury while playing in Bangalore. “Head Coach Rahul Dravid, who picked up an injury while playing cricket in Bangalore, is recovering well and will join us today in Jaipur,” the franchise posted on X, along with a picture of Dravid flashing a thumbs-up.
Dravid’s Injury in Local League Match
Last week, the 52-year-old suffered a left calf muscle injury while batting for Vijaya Cricket Club against Jayanagar Cricketers in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Group I, Division 2 semifinal for the Sri Nassur Memorial Shield.
Dravid, playing alongside his 16-year-old son Anvay, appeared in discomfort just two deliveries into his innings after reportedly pulling a calf muscle. Despite the pain, he continued to bat, scoring 43 off 66 balls in a crucial fourth-wicket stand with Anvay, although Vijaya CC ultimately lost the match.
The former India captain had made his first club appearance in 13 years last month, partnering with Anvay, who impressed with a 60-ball 58, while Dravid contributed 10 runs.
Dravid’s Role at Rajasthan Royals
Dravid took over as Rajasthan Royals’ head coach after a successful tenure as India’s head coach from 2022 to 2024, which culminated in India’s T20 World Cup triumph. He will now work closely with captain Sanju Samson and director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara as the Royals prepare for the upcoming IPL season.
