Cricketing great Virat Kohli was on Saturday seen celebrating for a brief moment after he ran for a run, ending fears of his third consecutive duck. India’s ongoing ODI series against Australia has been a severe embarrassment for the team as it lost the series after getting defeated in the first two matches in Perth and Adelaide Oval. 

While the defeat in itself is painful for the Indian cricket fans, the worse part was Kohli’s back-to-back ducks in both the games. On Saturday, in the third and the last match of the series in Sydney, Kohli came to the crease after Shubman Gill was caught by Alex Carey on Josh Hazlewood’s delivery.

The atmosphere was tense as Kohli went on to play the first ball. As he hit the ball and completed a run successfully, the crowd erupted in cheers and Kohli was seen smiling. He was also seen celebrating the moment as he beat the possibility of the hat-trick of his ducks.  It was also the first run he scored in the entire tournament.

The 36-year-old has seen 17 ducks in his ODI career but the series witnessed the first instance that there have been consecutive noughts.

Australia won the toss of the third match in ODI and opted to bat first. The Indian team managed to restrict the Aussies on 236 on the loss of 10 wickets in 46.4 overs.

Harshit Rana took four wickets while, Washington Sundar took 2. Md Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel took one wicket each. 

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the game for India giving a head start with a 69-run partnership.

“Sydney erupts for just one run. Virat Kohli gets off the mark and celebrates with a cheeky smile,” said another. A user said Kohli is enjoying cricket at present.
