The T20 World Cup brings out all the excitement and energy of the year among the fans. Especially, when it comes to the India vs Pakistan match, which is set to take place today in New York. The last time the national teams met was in October 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium.
In an attempt to match the fans’ energy, the India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has shared thoughts in an interview on a TV show, Aap ki Aadaalat.
During a recent interview, the host asked Rishabh Pant about a particular chant Indian fans used for Pakistan captain Babar Azam. The chant, “Tel lagao Dabur ka, wicket lo Babar ka,” has become a popular rallying cry among Indian supporters during matches between the two teams.
“If we look at it from a player’s perspective, they also work hard for their country. These kinds of banters keep on going, and the interesting part is that it brings a lot of emotion from both countries. These narratives made by the fans, like ‘Tel lagao Dabur ka, wicket lo Babar ka’ (laughs), make the competition more interesting,” Pant said on India TV’s show, ‘Aap Ki Adaalat’. Pant recently made his comeback to the international circuit after recovering from a serious accident in December 2022. The wicketkeeper-batter helped India complete a chase of 97 with more than seven overs to spare.
Ahead of the much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav’s childhood coach, Ashok Aswalkar, stated that Rishabh Pant is the biggest asset for the Men in Blue in the mega event. India will face Pakistan in their upcoming match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
