Pro Kabaddi League 2017: The Khiladi of Bollywood Akshay Kumar will feature at the opening ceremony of the fifth edition of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) which will commence on Friday. The superstar will be seen singing the National Anthem at the Kabaddi extravaganza. Endorsing the league, Akshay had earlier said in a video that kabaddi is the most common link among Indians. Adding the glamour to the event will be ‘Baahubali’ himself – Rana Dagubatti and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, among others. Several sporting personalities comprising of women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj and badminton players B. Sai Praneeth, Kidambi Srikanth and RMV Gurusaidutt, will also be among the guests at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium. Famous badminton coach P Gopichand will also be present at the event. Among the entertainment fraternity, popular superstar from the south- Allu Arjun and Chiranjeevi will attend the event.

Notably, similar to the Indian Premier League (IPL) format, each city’s match will be introduced by an opening ceremony. Pro Kabaddi league is one of India’s biggest sports leagues with four new teams joining the existing eight-franchises. The league will now have 12 teams from 11 states who will battle it out in 138 matches across three months for the title. The opening match is between Telugu Titans and Tamil Thalaivas. Meanwhile, in the sixth season, Patna Pirates defeated U Mumba 31-28 at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex. Pardeep Narwal was adjudged as the Player with most raids with 116 points. Furthermore, Manjeet Chillar of Puneri Paltan was the awarded as the player with most tackles with 56 points.
