Ishan Kishan’s record-levelling hundred in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) Trophy final against Haryana helped Jharkhand lift their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) final and become the domestic T20 champions for the first time ever.

Riding on Kishan’s 49-ball 101 and a 38-ball 81 from Kumar Kushagra, Jharkhand posted a formidable 262/3 in their 20 overs. In response, Haryana were bundled out for 193, resulting in an emphatic victory for Jharkhand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on Thursday (December 18). Anukul Roy was named the Player of the Series for his brilliant show throughout the tournament both with the bat and ball (303 runs, 18 wickets).

Kishan’s hundred drew him level with Abhishek Sharma. The two young Indian batting stars now jointly hold the record for the most number of hundreds in SMAT (5). However, while Abhishek is currently the world’s top-ranked T20I batter, Ishan is not near a place in the Indian team, last playing a T20I for India back in November 2023.ITR

Anukul Roy, Bal Krishna, Sushant Mishra, Vikas Singh among wickets for Haryana

After a dominant show with the bat, there was still some work to be done with the ball which they managed to do. Anukul Roy continued his wicket-taking form, scalping 2 wickets, although he conceded 42 runs in his 4 overs this evening.

Sushant Mishra emerged as the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 3 wickets for 27 runs from his 4 overs. Bal Krishna took 3 wickets for 38 runs while Vikas Singh finished with 2 wickets for 30 runs.

Yashvardhan Dalal’s fifty among rare positives for Haryana in final

For Ankit Kumar’s men, Yashvardhan Dalal’s fighting 22-ball 53 in the run chase was one of the rare positives. Their bowling was far from their best with Ishant Bhardwaj’s 10.00 being the most economical spell of the lot.
