Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine is just 18 runs away from becoming the first player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to score over 500 runs and take 15 wickets in a single season.
After 13 matches in the IPL 2024, the Caribbean all-rounder has scored 482 runs at a striking rate of 179.85. In this 17th season of the IPL, Narine has delivered outstanding performances as an opener and needs just 18 more runs to surpass the 500-run milestone.
Narine’s chance to join KKR’s elite club
The 35-year-old also has the opportunity to become the fourth KKR player to score 500 runs in an IPL season, joining the ranks of Robin Uthappa, Andre Russell, and Gautam Gambhir.
In the ongoing IPL 2024 season, Narine has taken 16 wickets with an economy rate of 6.90.
KKR topped the league stage, securing nine wins, enduring three losses, and encountering two no-results, accumulating a total of 20 points. This performance earned them a direct spot in the final after defeating SRH in Qualifier 1. Meanwhile, SRH took advantage of their second chance in Qualifier 2, where they triumphed over Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 36 runs, securing their place in the final.
With the IPL final between SRH and KKR set to take place today, all eyes will be on Narine as he seeks to achieve this historic milestone while leading his team to glory.
