The Indian Premier League (IPL) is around the corner. There’s a huge buzz on Rishabh Pant’s possible comeback in his home team, Delhi Capitals. Wicket-keeper batter, Rishab Pant was recently seen playing in a warm-up game in Alur near Bengaluru which has sparked the speculation of his comeback among his fans after a tragic near-death accident in 2022.

Recent reports indicate that Rishabh Pant’s mobility remains unaffected despite a car accident in December 2022 that kept him sidelined for almost 15 months. Sources confirm his ability to run and bat with the same agility as before, as he undergoes rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, with additional treatment in London facilitated by the BCCI.

Optimism surrounds Pant’s potential return to the Indian Premier League (IPL), pending clearance from NCA authorities. While the Delhi Capitals franchise backs Pant’s leadership, they have assigned wicketkeeping duties to another player, with David Warner leading the team in the previous IPL season.

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed optimism about Pant’s comeback in the IPL 2024 season, describing his recovery as miraculous. Chopra highlighted Pant’s remarkable journey from injury to potential participation, acknowledging filtered reports suggesting his return to the IPL.

Chopra says, “He will bat and captain. With batting, he solves an extremely important problem for the Delhi Capitals because he can bat slightly down the order as, unfortunately, all their good players are top-order batters” while speaking on his official YouTube channel.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) previously provided a positive update on Pant’s progress in July, mentioning his resumption of batting and keeping in nets and significant rehabilitation strides. Pant’s impressive IPL record, with 2,838 runs in 98 matches at a striking average of 34.61, including a century and 15 fifties, underscores his value as one of the league’s most explosive players.
