Chennai Super Kings’ Shivam Dube’s fiery innings against Gujarat Titans was nothing less than perfect. In the rematch of last year’s final, CSK posted a huge target of 206-6 with explosive batting from the new face of the team – Rachin Ravindra and a powerful finish by Sameer Rizvi.

Dube who scored 5 sixes and 2 fours in his 23 ball 51, was the star of the show. He had a strike rate of 221.73. Facing his first ball, Dube bent down on one knee and smashed the ball for six over long-on and repeated the same on the next ball with a six over midwicket. The impressive knock with raining sixes at Chepauk brought captain cool on his feet when he completed his half-century. From the stands, Dhoni cheered on Dube and applauded him.

Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad also praised Dube and said that MS Dhoni has worked personally with Dube and has helped him work on his weakness against short ball.

Shubhman Gill’s GT only managed to score 143-8 and lost the match by a huge margin of 63 runs. Defeating GT, the yellow lions climbed to the top spot. The player of the Match, Shivam Dube said that the franchise gives freedom and is quite different from others. He acknowledged his preparation for facing short balls and to maintain a higher strike rate to secure victories for the franchise.
