India vs NZ Rishabh Pant Injured: Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of wicket-keeping duties on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after sustaining a knee injury. Pant left the field after being struck on the right knee during the 37th over of New Zealand’s innings, which resulted in him missing a stumping opportunity against opener Devon Conway.

As play commenced on what is considered a crucial moving day for the Test match, substitute Dhruv Jurel stepped in to perform wicket-keeping duties alongside captain Rohit Sharma and the rest of the team.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially confirmed Pant’s absence on Day 3, stating, “Mr. Rishabh Pant will not keep wickets on Day 3. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress.”

Captain Rohit Sharma addressed the media after Day 2, providing insight into the injury. He explained, “Unfortunately, the ball hit straight on his kneecap, the same leg on which he has had surgery. He is experiencing some swelling, and we are taking precautionary measures. Rishabh does not want to take any risks given his recent surgery on that leg.”

Rohit expressed hope for Pant’s swift recovery, adding, “Hopefully, he can recover overnight, and we will see him back on the field tomorrow.”
