India vs Australia 2nd T20I: India has won the second game of the five-match series against Australia, and takes the lead of 2-0. The third game will take place in Guwahati. India dominated the game with the bat, with the top three batsmen scoring half-centuries. Later on, Rinku Singh’s cameo helped India comfortably put a total of 235. The chase was never going to be easy for Australia, and despite the dew factor, India continued to take regular wickets to put Australia under pressure.
Dominance with the bat
Having asked to bat first, India started off well in the game, with the Man of the Match winner Yashasvi Jaiswal firing right from the beginning. After seeing the first two overs, Jaiswal took the charge and fired on the Australian bowlers. He reached his fifty in just 24 balls and within the first six overs. India scored 77 runs in their first six overs.
Later on, Ishan Kishan joined the party and scored a quickfire fifty too. He too had to depart right after his half-century. SKY, despite a good start, couldn’t play till the end. Ruturaj Gaikwad held his end and rotated the strike well, scoring a half-century.
However, it was Rinku Singh, the emerging star of Indian cricket, who once again played the finisher’s role! He scored 31 off just nine balls, providing the dream finish to India during the death overs.
Regular wickets
Right from the beginning, Indian bowlers did not let the Australian batsmen settle down. Getting Matt Short early in the innings, India managed to get four wickets in the first eight overs of the Australian innings. However, the fifth wicket partnership between Stoinis and Tim David provided a check to the Indian bowling unit and did not allow them to take the game away too early.
However, once Bishnoi took the wicket of David in the 14th over to break the partnership, the Australian team collapsed, and Indian bowlers went down to take nine wickets. In the end, some shots of Matthew Wade helped them to narrow the margin of defeat, but it was never a concern for the Indian side. Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi took 3 wickets each, while Arshdeep, Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar took one wicket each.
Spinners on the role
Indian spin-duo, Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel were the check-dams of the run flow during the Australian innings. Both the spinners took eight wickets combined and just gave 57 runs off their eight overs in a high-scoring game, where dew factor played the lead role in the second innings.
