Indian men’s hockey team dominated Korea in the Asia Cup final on Sunday. Team India defeated Korea by 4-1 and secured their fourth Asia Cup title. With this victory, India has now also qualified for the 2026 Hockey World Cup. India’s was led by captain Harmanpreet Singh and in the entire tournament, the team finished unbeaten with five wins and one draw.
Coming off from a fresh 7-0 victory over China in the semis, India got off to a flying start as Sukhjeet Singh scored in the first minute of the game. Dilpreet Singh added two goals in the 28th and 45th minutes, while Amit Rohidas sealed the win with a goal in the 50th minute. South Korea’s lone goal came through Dain Son in the 51st minute.
India’s previous titles came in 2003, 2007 and 2017. The Hockey World Cup will take place in Belgium and the Netherlands from August 14-30, 2026.
