It was a dream start for Bangladesh in the T20I series against Pakistan. The former won with a commanding seven-wicket win at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday. The hosts bowled out Pakistan for a paltry 110, which is now Pakistan’s lowest-ever total in T20Is against Bangladesh, and chased it down comfortably in just 15.3 overs.

The google search trend volume for the game was up 1,000% with more than 500,000 search queries.

Dominant performances kept Bangladesh on top

The victory was built on a dominant bowling and fielding display, led by Taskin Ahmed’s incisive spell (3 wickets) and Mustafizur Rahman’s record-setting four overs that cost just six runs, the most economical full spell by a Bangladeshi bowler in T20Is.

Pakistan’s innings, which ended in 19.3 overs, began shakily and never recovered. While Taskin dropped an early sitter off Fakhar Zaman, he made amends soon after by removing Saim Ayub. From there, Bangladesh didn’t look back. Mohammad Haris gifted his wicket in the third over, skying a loose shot straight to deep midwicket. Salman Agha then mistimed a scoop off Tanzim Hasan Sakib, followed by two crucial run-outs — Mohammad Nawaz and Fakhar Zaman — caused by poor communication and excellent fielding pressure.

Star of the show

Parvez Hossain Emon, the 23-year-old Bangladeshi batter, then stole the show with the bat. The young opener played a mature yet aggressive knock. He stayed unbeaten on 56 off 39 balls and smashed five sixes and three boundaries for his half-century. His effort ensured Bangladesh sealed the win with 27 balls to spare.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy provided steady support during the chase, but it was Emon’s fireworks that made the difference.

The clinical win puts Bangladesh 1–0 up in the series and will boost their confidence as they look ahead to the remaining matches. For Pakistan, the loss raises serious questions about their batting depth and on-field decision-making, especially under pressure.
