A couple of weeks ago, Rishabh Pant hinted at a significant change with a late-night tweet, and on Thursday, it was officially confirmed that the Delhi Capitals have released their star player ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. In his tweet, Pant posed the question, “If I go to the auction, will I be sold or not, and for how much?” Fans will soon find out, as teams prepare to compete for one of the biggest names to enter the auction pool in the tournament’s history.

The Delhi Capitals have retained four players: Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abishek Porel.

Co-owner Parth Jindal expressed his satisfaction with the retentions, stating, “With Axar, Kuldeep, Tristan, and Abishek, we have the perfect mix of experience and youth. While I would have liked to keep more players who have represented DC, the retention rules require a strategic approach. We will head into the auction with two Right to Match (RTM) cards, which keeps the possibility open for former players to return.”

After reaching the finals in 2020 and finishing in the top two the following year, the Delhi Capitals have struggled in recent seasons, finishing fifth, ninth, and sixth in the last three IPL campaigns.
