One of the most well-known football players in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo, was at the centre of controversy in the days before Portugal’s World Cup qualifying match against Armenia after a video appeared that showed him pushing a fan.

The footage, captured outside the team’s hotel in the Armenian capital of Yerevan, shows a chaotic scene as a throng of excited fans surged toward the Portuguese players, eager for photos and autographs.

The video begins with Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva walking out, followed closely by Ronaldo and his teammates, as they made their way to training ahead of the Saturday match.

What can be seen in the video?

One fan approached Ronaldo, attempting to get close for a selfie. The 40-year-old then shoved forward sharply, clearly annoyed by the crowd’s pressure and close proximity.

The fan staggered back as a result of the quick push that was caught on camera. The video went viral in a matter of seconds, sparking a massive backlash from internet users.

‘Messi would never ignore a fan’

Netizens quickly reacted to the video. A user noted, “Messi would never ignore a fan.” Another claimed,”Imagine your idol ignoring you.” Meanwhile, another netizen added, “DISGRACEFUL !!!! Cristiano Ronaldo shoves a fan who wanted to take a selfie with him…” ‘He is such a disgrace,” a netizen remarked.

“Just stop this already -He’s a human being and he can have bad mood and be tired . You all don’t understand that he needs to live up with those fans runing in his face way too much and he gets tired of that . He can be tired and just not wanting to interact with anyone and this guy runs into him,” noted a netizen. Another user called him, ‘the arrogant star ever.’
