India had tightened their grip in the Asia Cup 2025 tournament by beating Pakistan for the second time in a week. They won by six wickets in their first Super Fours match, securing the top spot after the opening round of games.

India will next face Bangladesh today, September 24, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After that, they will take on Sri Lanka on Friday in what could be a crucial game for final qualification.

After losing to India on Sunday, Pakistan returned with a five-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Super Fours. The victory lifted them to second place in the standings. However, their position remains shaky as they are the only team to have played two games, while India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have played just one each.

Pakistan’s pace attack did the job. Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up three wickets, while Haris Rauf and Hussain Talat grabbed two each. Sri Lanka could only manage 133/8 in their 20 overs, with Kamindu Mendis being the lone fighter scoring a half-century.

Pakistan’s batting was far from smooth during the chase. They almost slipped under pressure, but Hussain Talat and Mohammad Nawaz put together an unbeaten 58-run stand off 41 balls. Their partnership ensured Pakistan crossed the finish line comfortably.
