The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup on Tuesday(August 19) at 1:30 pm. The 15-member Indian squad for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will be unveiled, following a high-profile selection meeting in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Reports said the Senior Men’s Selection Committee will come together at the BCCI headquarters, with the squad announcement scheduled for 1:30 pm. The press conference is likely to be attended by India’s T20 captain and the chairman of selectors.

Who could be part of the Asia Cup squad?

Having been declared fit to play, Surya Kumar Yadav is expected to continue as captain. A TOI report mentioned that opener Shubman Gill may not be included into the T20 side, despite his effective performance. The management is reportedly keen to retain Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Tilak Varma.

Jasprit Bumrah could be the star of the bowling line-up, while there are chances that Mohammed Siraj is likely to be given a rest following a heavy workload in England. Other additions in the team could be Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Prasidh Krishna.

Asia cup schedule

The T20 Asia Cup will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28, just a year after India lifted the 2024 T20 World Cup. The games will mostly be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. As per an ACC statement, the tournament will follow the T20I format and feature eight teams: five full members of the Asian Cricket Council – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka), along with the UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong.

Group A consists of India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong are in Group B. India will begin their campaign against the UAE on September 10, where the much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash is scheduled for the 14th. 

The Super 4 stage will run from September 20 to 26. Dubai will host the final on September 28.
