Ind vs Pak Asia Cup Final 2025: Team India defeated Pakistan 3-0 in the Asia Cup tournament, and the last win came in the final, where India defeated Salman Ali Agha-led team by 5 wickets. However, the high-octane drama didn’t end there. After winning the match, Team India refused to collect the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi.
Team India made officials aware that they are ready to receive the trophy from the Vice Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board, Khalid Al Zarooni. But Naqvi, who heads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and is also the country’s Interior Minister, didn’t budge. That’s when the post-presentation ended rather awkwardly, with Simon Doull, the presenter, communicating Team India’s decision.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I have been informed by the Asian Cricket Council that the Indian cricket team will not be collecting their awards tonight. So that does conclude the post-match presentation,” he said.
But why did India celebrate the win without a trophy?
Well, as per a source-based report by The Indian Express, the immediate trigger was Naqvi’s social media reposts.
One of his reposts on X (formerly Twitter) shows a collage of players doing the “gun act” on the field, including former India skippers MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
The caption reads: “Did Sahibzada Farhan really do anything different from what all these gentlemen have done before?”
Not just this, two days back, he posted a video of Cristiano Ronaldo depicting a crashing plane.
The Indian Express report also stated that in one of the reposts titled “Final Day”, Pakistani cricketers Salman Agha and Shaheen Shah Afridi are seen wearing flight suits with images of airborne fighter jets in the background.
‘Dragging war into sports exposes desperation’: Naqvi
A few hours back, he responded to PM Modi’s “Operation Sindoor on the field” post. “Operation Sindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same – India wins!” read a part of PM Modi’s post.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Naqvi said, “If war was your measure of pride, history already records your humiliating defeat at Pakistan’s hands. No cricket match can rewrite that truth. Dragging war into sport only exposes desperation and disgraces the very spirit of the game.”
