Pokemon Go invaded the smartphone market with a storm and in a blink of an eye, everyone was seen fiddling with their phones trying to play the spectacularly captivating game. And as the tagline of the cartoon series goes, “Gotta Catch ’em all”, the mania was quite evident on the streets. And now, shockingly, the game developer Niantic has announced that it will be dropping support for several devices. Pokemon would be supported only by Apple devices that support iOS 11. Niantic on its official website and posted a notification which read,”In an upcoming update to Pokemon Go, we will end support for Apple devices not capable of upgrading to iOS 11, such as iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c models,”
They even cited the reason for this step.“This change is a result of improvements to Pokemon Go that push the application beyond the capabilities of the operating systems on such devices,” Niantic said. The changes will come into effect from February 28 this year. This means after this date those using Apple devices that cannot go beyond iOS11 will not be able to access their Pokemon Go accounts or use PokeCoins or other items without switching to one of the supported devices on Niantic’s list.
Here is the list of Apple devices on which Pokemon Go would not be available:
1- iPhone 5c
2- iPhone 5
3- iPad (4th generation)
4- iPad (3rd generation)
5- iPad mini (1st generation)
5- iPad 2
Recently, Pokemon Go developer Niantic announced that Apple devices starting from iPhone 6s and above would support AR plus- a new mode that takes advantage of Apple’s ARKit framework for a greater degree of realism. It is AR plus that has made it possible to keep Pokemon Go at a fixed point. It means the gamer can walk up close to a Pokemon and accurately see how it sizes in the real world. Moreover, Pokemon are aware of trainers getting close and trainers can get to know how close are they to getting spotted with the help of an awareness metre. Niantic suggests tapping on nearby grass onscreen which could allow Pokemon to reappear if it was aware of your presence.
