Sony on Monday released a teaser video announcing its MWC event that will officially begin on February 26 in Barcelona, Spain. The video teaser posted by Sony on Twitter informs that the company will host its MWC event on February 26. Apart from this, the 23-second video did not divulge much except for curved lines moving around the hand, which is indicative of a smartphone with a curved display. Sony, in previous reports, has been rumoured to launch at least two smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 event.
The Sony video teaser comes as an official announcement that the Japanese company is attending the MWC to showcase its new products after all. So far, multiple reports have hinted at the launch of two new flagship smartphones –Â Sony Xperia XZ2 and Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact. The specifications of both the smartphones are not sufficiently available. However, a Sony device bearing a model number H8266 appeared on AnTuTu benchmark listing earlier this month that revealed an 18:9 full-HD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
In addition to the above-mentioned specifications, the Sony device was said to ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. It will also feature either IP65 or IP68 water and dust resistance. The battery inside the device will either come with 3210mAh or 3240mAh capacity. It is speculated that this unnamed device could be the Sony Xperia XZ2 that will sport flagship specifications. Note of caution – There is no concrete information available on the device yet and readers should wait for the official unveiling of the Sony devices that is almost a week away.
