The OnePlus Nord 4 marks the triumphant return of a yesteryear classic: metal built smartphones. It’s not all metal per say, but it’s the most metal we’ve seen on any modern day smartphone off late. It goes without saying that OnePlus has gone to great lengths to make it happen, given that the Nord 4 is also a 5G smartphone. It’s not just the hardware. OnePlus has gone the extra mile with the software, too. The Nord 4 offers the longest software support on any OnePlus phone yet: that’s four major Android and six years of security updates.
-
DESIGN, BUILD: The OnePlus Nord 4 features a sleek 7.99 mm metal unibody design, crafted from a single piece of precision-milled aluminum. OnePlus has used advanced technology to develop compact 5G antennas, over 50% smaller, and redesigned the motherboard, enhancing 5G signal clarity. These innovations enable the return of metal construction. You do get some glass up-top leading to a more dual-tone design overall. The Nord 4 is one handsome-looking smartphone, though it can be a tad slippery. The phone is IP65 certified.
-
DISPLAY: The display is a 6.7-inch 1.5K AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,150 nits of peak brightness. The tiny bezels lead to a wide canvas that’s a treat for content consumption.
-
PROCESSOR, MEMORY: The Nord 4 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 processor. it is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS4.0 storage. Day-to-day performance is nice and reliable, though high refresh rate gaming is a no go. The display in fact has a tendency to run below 120Hz most of the time.
-
SOFTWARE: The OnePlus Nord 4 runs OxygenOS 14.1 based on Android 14 out of the box. Some bloatware has slowly crept into these Nord phones over the years and the Nord 4 has them, too. The number is still lower than a Realme or Oppo phone though.
-
CAMERA: The Nord 4 has a single useful 50-megapixel (Sony LLT-600) camera that saves the day for it. The 8MP ultrawide and 16MP front cameras are weak and disappointing.
-
BATTERY, CHARGING: The Nord 4 ships with a massive 5,500mAh battery that lasted 15 hours and 12 minutes in our battery loop test. Battery life is fantastic across the board. There is support for 100W fast charging. The compliant charger tops the phone from 0-100% in roughly about 40 minutes.
-
CONNECTIVITY: The Nord 4 supports 5G dual SIM, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 6. It has an IR blaster as well. There is no headphone jack. Stereo speakers are available.
-
INDIA PRICE: The OnePlus Nord 4 is priced at Rs 29,999 for 8GB/128GB, Rs 32,999 for 8GB/256GB and Rs 35,999 for 12GB/256GB. (Photo credits: Saurabh Singh/Financial Express)
