As the festival of colours, Holi is approaching near, people are getting ready to soak themselves in coloured powders (gulal and abir). In different cities of the country, shopkeepers have started selling different types of water guns and balloons to lure customers.
This year, Holi will be celebrated on March 25. The festival is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu lunar month Phalguna. In the Gregorian calendar, the festival typically falls in February or March.
The festival not only signifies the victory of good over evil but also celebrates the divine love of Radha and Lord Krishna.
Predominantly, Holi is celebrated in the Indian subcontinent. But, now, the festival of colour has spread to other regions of Asia and parts of the Western world through the Indian diaspora.
