Delhi Metro services paralysed after pole falls on tracks:</br><br> Commuters travelling by metro on the Blue Line between Dwarka and Noida or Vaishali had to face tough time this evening when the services remained affected for nearly two hours after a streetlight pole from an adjacent flyover fell on the over head electrical wire near Janakpuri in West Delhi after a storm. Thousands of commuters were stranded on stations during the peak hours between 4:43 PM and 6:45 PM as authorities had to operate both the up and down metro from a single line between Janakpuri East and West stations. Woman smashes SP leader's Mercedes after being winked at: </br><br> A woman jumped atop a local Samajwadi Party leader's Mercedes, smashed the windshield and tore off the party flag on the bonnet after being allegedly winked at by his gunner. Social media was taken by storm by the two-minute video of the woman's act. 23-year-old Sadhvi Pandey along with her sister was going to see a doctor on a scooty. When they were waiting at a crossing, the cavalcade of Abhinav Sharma stopped alongside and the gunner allegedly winked. Pandey stopped the car. As she was taking a photo of the gunner with her mobile, some of the guards came out and allegedly broke her phone. This infuriated Pandey further and she climbed on the bonnet of the Mercedes and tore off the party flag fixed on the bonnet and used it to break the windshield. St Stephen's principal in row with woman faculty member:</br><br> The president of the Delhi University teachers' body and senior St Stephen's faculty member, Nandita Narain, is caught in a row with the varsity writing to her college over complaints against her from some colleges even as she termed the matter a "conspiracy" planned by the DU VC and her college's principal. Some DU-affiliated colleges like Kalindi College, Deshbandhu College and the varsity's School of Open Learning (SOL) had complained to the DU administration that Narain has been interfering in their functioning. Narain said, "This is an orchestrated conspiracy, hatched by the Vice Chancellor and Thampu, who have both viewed me as a thorn in their side and have sought to silence my dissent as far as St Stephen's is concerned as well as Delhi University on a larger scale, by initiating the groundwork to remove me from service". JKBose class X result 2015 declared, girls bag top 3 positions </br><br> JKBose result 2015: Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) today declared the results of class 10 examination in which the top three positions have been bagged by girls. A total of 50,535 students — 26,900 boys and 23,600 girls – had appeared in the examination which was held in March because of the floods that hit the Valley in September last year. The first three positions have been shared by seven girls, JKBOSE officials said. Anika Shabir, a student of a private school in Awantipora area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir has secured the first position with 494 marks out of maximum 500. The second position has been shared by four girls with 491 marks, while the third position was shared by two girls who obtained 490 marks. Dukhtaran attacks Salman Khan: </br><br> Separatist Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chief Asiya Indrabi today hit out at Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, saying he was acting as an agent of "cultural aggression" in Jammu and Kashmir by batting for increased tourism and opening of cinema halls in the valley. The radical women's outfit leader also hit out at Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, accusing him of promoting obscenity and vulgarity in the name of tourism promotion. "Mufti (Sayeed) and Salman Khan are promoting obscenity and vulgarity in the name of Bollywood and giving push to tourism in Kashmir," Indrabi told reporters. "He (Salman) is acting as an agent of cultural aggression," she added. She added, "Cinema is the greatest vice to encourage waywardness among the society." That's 17-year-old Shalini, who helps her mother as a maid servant in five houses, while juggling studies, and scored 84.8 per cent in science stream in second PUC (Pre-University or 12th) board exams. "I search for opportunities amidst difficulties. I am not overwhelmed by the onslaught of pain and misery," Shalini told said with a philosophical touch. Life has not been kind enough for her as she had to face agony while pursuing her studies. "From past seven years,I have been helping my mother as a maid servant in five houses while juggling my studies," she said. Presenting the resolution before the executive committee at its meeting here, BJP MLA Vijendra Gupta said, "They (AAP government) are creating controversies to create an alibi for their failures in fulfilling promises." (PTI) CBSE tightens rules: </br><br> Making the changing of names or date of birth more stringent, CBSE has issued a circular saying these could be done provided court orders are produced and the changes are notified in the government gazette before publication of results. So far, changes in name/surname or date of birth could be done by affidavit followed by advertisement in newspapers. However, the latest decision has been taken after careful consideration of hundreds of applications and "genuineness" of the requests, officials in the HRD Ministry said. </br><br> The Central Board of Secondary Education had in February this year issued the circular which also said no correction in date of birth shall be made after one year of the date of issue of the qualifying certificates. Further, all applications for correction in date of birth will have to be submitted to the CBSE chairman. (PTI) -
