For starters, Ranbir Kapoor's Bombay Velvet box office collections prediction is that the movie will turn into the No 1 movie of 2015. This is a period film. While period dramas don't generally tend to do well, unless the director gets it really right, the film is banking on the presence of mega stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma not to mention Karan Johar. The mix is rich and the result is expected to be good. Ranbir Kapoor's fight sequences form the highlight of the film – he has not been known to do movies that have violence at the core. Bombay Velvet, set in 1949, welcomes the audiences with a track by Raveena Tandon Thadani (special appearance). Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor) takes his baby steps in this man-eat-man world and even spends his time in the red light district nursing frustrations of seeing his mother getting slapped and abused. His frustrations end up leading him into free-for-all situations to earn some ready cash. Ranbir Kapoor has delivered one of his career's best performances in Bombay Velvet. There is a crazy energy around his madness that gets you hooked from start to finish. In spite of his roguish ways, there is an impetuous innocence in him that strikes you as an audience. Anushka Sharma, on the other hand, looks beautiful and delectably sensuous. There is a mischievous side to her as well and also the one that learns to dominate a domineering men. (Bollywood Hungama)

The jury is out and over the next few days will be revealed whether Bombay Velvet will burnish Ranbir Kapoor's credentials as a bankable star on the lines of Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan, or even Hrithik Roshan, or will it indicate that he still has a long way to go. That banking on his Bollywood genetics will not be enough – it may have got him this far, but going any further will require immense effort. (Bollywood Hungama)
