Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two of the nation’s most iconic bridges on Friday, marking a landmark day for India and Jammu and Kashmir’s infrastructure. Leading the ceremony, he inaugurated the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway arch bridge, followed by the launch of India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge above the Anji River. Both of the bridges are crucial to the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL). This rail link is a 272 km mega project aimed at seamlessly connecting Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. Standing 359 metres tall above the Chenab River, the Chenab Bridge is an architectural marvel that symbolises resistance against the challenging terrain and seismic challenges. PM Modi also flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains on the Katra and Srinagar route , boosting mobility among the residents and tourists. This gallery highlights the grand structures-Chenab Bridge, Anji Khad, and tunnels T-50, representing a new era of connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
