On Saturday, in Punjab, on the fifth day of the farmers’ protest, the Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) will hold dharnas outside the residences of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
Farmers are protesting over their various demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Also, in the state, the union will hold protests at toll plazas, extending support to the farmers’ “Delhi Chalo” call.
On the fifth day of their “Delhi Chalo” march, farmers stayed put at the two border points of Punjab and Haryana. They are pressing the Modi government to accept their demands, including a legal guarantee of an MSP for crops. The agitation is called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.
