In a day marked by a flurry of activity, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today gave approval to a number of proposals that will impact the welfare of Armymen, Railways employees and patients and others. Here are the top 5: (Reuters)

Centre clears proposal for 3 new AIIMS</br> <br>Government today cleared a proposal to establish three new AIIMS in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) at a total of cost of Rs 4,949 crore. The Cabinet for setting up of three new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Nagpur in Maharashtra, Manglagiri, Andhra Pradesh and Kalyani in West Bengal. Each of the proposed institution will have a hospital with a capacity of 960 beds. In addition, there will be a teaching block, administrative block, AYUSH block, auditorium, nursing college, night shelter, hostel and residential facilities. Of the total expenditure of Rs 4949 crore, the cost of the new AIIMS at Manglagiri will be to the tune of Rs 1,618 crore, Rs 1,577 crore for Nagpur and for Kalyani Rs 1754 crore will be spent. Govt clears bonus for Indian Railways employees</br> <br>Ahead of the festive season, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleared a proposal to give 78-day wages as productivity-linked bonus (PLB) to over 12 lakh Indian Railways employees for the fiscal 2014-15, the same as in the last three years, despite the financial crunch. The decision will cover 12.58 lakh non-gazetted railway employees who could get up to Rs 8,975 this month as bonus. The financial implication is estimated to be Rs 1,030.02 crore. Govt approves Rs 500-cr project for war memorial, museum</br> <br>Acceding to a long-pending demand of the armed forces, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved a Rs 500-crore project for building a National War Memorial and a National War Museum near India Gate in memory of over 22,500 soldiers who laid down their lives post-Independence. The total time for completion of the entire project at Princess Park here is estimated to be five years. (Reuters) </br>

Govt approves Rs 2,140 cr WB-assisted watershed project</br> <br>Seeking to enhance access to irrigation facilities to the farmers, a World Bank-assisted watershed project with an outlay of over Rs 2,140 crore was approved by the government today. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave its nod to implement the World Bank (WB)-assisted National Watershed Management Project "Neeranchal" with a total outlay of USD 357 million (Rs 2142.30 crore). The proposed project will be implemented at the national level as well as in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telangana, an official statement said.
