The Indian stock markets will see three holidays in June, July, and August. Both the bourses—NSE and BSE—will remain shut on June 17, July 17, and August 15.
Holiday in June
The leading exchanges are closed on June 17 on account of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakri Eid, falling on Monday, which makes a three-day long weekend for market participants.
Holiday in July
The bourses will be closed on Wednesday, July 17, due to Muharram. Muharram honours the passing of Hussein Ibn Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, who was ruthlessly martyred on the tenth day of Muharram, also known as the Day of Ashura, during the Battle of Karbala.
Holiday in August
Indian equity markets will observe a holiday on account of Independence Day on Thursday, August 15, according to the trading holidays calendar of BSE and NSE.
Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment, and SLB Segment will cease to operate on these days, as per BSE’s trading holiday calendar.
A total of 16 trading holidays are in the calendar year 2024.
