Odisha, rich in forest resources, is looking to export timber to China. A high-level official team of Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC) led by its managing director Ajay Mohapatra will be visiting China in September to discuss with Chinese buyers export of Sal and Asana wood from the state.

The OFDC,which started online sale of forest products like timber and processed kendu leaf from this year, has attracted buyers from all over India resulting in better turnover.

The state government owned-corporation has earned a record revenue of R685 crore in 2015-16 and posted a net profit of Rs 25.92 crore. It contributed R80 crore to the state exchequer in terms of royalty and taxes. The corporation sold Rs 543 crore worth of kendu leaf. Making profit for 10 years in row, the corporation is now qualified to get the gold category of PSU tag.
