Petrol, Diesel Price Today 19 September 2024: Oil prices fell after the US Federal Reserve slashed interest rates by 50 bps, significantly more than expected. The decision has also raised concerns about the US economy. November Brent crude futures have dropped by 34 cents or 0.46% and were at $73.31 per barrel whereas October WTI crude futures were down by 42 cents or 0.59% at $70.49 per barrel. The ongoing tension in West Asia are also likely to support crude prices.

According to Unmesh Kulkarni, Managing Director Senior Advisor, Julius Baer India, ”We are neutral on oil. Oil demand is expected to stagnate in the Western world and in China, while on the other hand, production is expanding, thanks to profitable operations. The petro-nations will likely eventually phase out their curtailments as competition for market shares heats up. Geopolitics-driven price spikes are usually short-lived, and in absence of an extreme flare-up in geopolitical conditions, the current downtrend in oil prices might just extend a bit more.”
