Petrol, Diesel Price Today 17 October 2024: Oil prices were up on Thursday (17 October) in comparison to the last two weeks’ low as investors are monitoring the developments in the Middle East and are waiting for the announcement of the official US oil inventory data. According to the latest report, Brent crude futures were up by 17 cents and were at $74.39 per barrel. On the other hand, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was on the rise by 19 cents and was at $70.58 per barrel.

The reason behind the drop has been credited to the drop in demand forecasts for 2024 and 2025 by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Rahul Kalantri, Vice President of Commodities at Mehta Equities Ltd, noted, “We expect crude oil prices to remain volatile during today’s trading session, with key support levels between $69.65 and $69.00, and resistance between $71.00 and $71.65. In INR terms, crude oil has support at ₹5,850-₹5,780 and resistance at ₹6,000-₹6,080.”
