Petrol, Diesel Price Today 13 September 2024: A revision in the petrol and diesel prices in India is expected to take place only if lower rates for international crude oil are sustained as per PTI sources. Meanwhile, Crude oil prices rose on Friday as problems in supply occurred because of Hurricane Francine in the US Gulf of Mexico. Brent crude was up by 34 cents or 0.5% to $72 per barrel whereas US West Texas Intermediate hiked by 38 cents or 0.6% to $69.35 per barrel as per Reuters. The international crude oil price dropped to a three-year low before slightly recovering on Thursday. Oil Secretary Pankaj Jain mentioned that the oil companies will decide on reducing the fuel prices only if low international oil prices are sustained.
According to Sriram Iyer, Senior Research Analyst at Reliance Securities, ‘’International and domestic crude oil futures extended gains on Thursday after Hurricane Francine moved through the Gulf of Mexico and halted output. Looking ahead from an intraday perspective, NYMEX crude oil prices have started flat to marginally stronger this early Friday morning in Asian trading amid supply concerns and a weaker Dollar. According to a Thursday update from the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement around 670,000 to 730,000 bpd of oil in the Gulf of Mexico is currently shut in due to the storm. Meanwhile, the Dollar tumbled on Thursday and lent support to prices. However, the upside remained capped after the crack spread fell to a 3-1/2 year low on Thursday. ”
