It might have been a bit late off the mark, but Samsung Electronics will soon have 4G devices covering all price ranges. The company on Monday announced three new 4G smartphones starting from Rs 9,990. With this the company will have 4G devices in all price ranges up to the flagship Samsung Galaxy Note Edge range.
Of the new 4G smartphones, the Galaxy J1 will take on the Xiaomi Redmi Note, Yu Yureka and the Lenovo A6000, all of which are already available in the market. But when all the phones launch in the second week of March, Samsung will be the only company to have 4G devices across all price ranges in India.
However, Vice President (marketing, mobile and IT) Asim Warsi refused to divulge the price points of the other two devices. He said Samsung will continue to rollout 4G devices in the Indian markets. The new phones will have features created with the Indian users in mind like dual SIM and download booster where the phone will supplement data speeds by connecting to the Wi-Fi as well. The phones will be compatible with all 4G bands in India and capable of download speeds of up to 150 Mbps.
Warsi said 4G will trigger the next wave of growth for the smartphones segment and Samsung is fully prepared for this era. He said Samsung will continue to bring 2G, 3G devices too as all these segments will coexist for some time to come.
