Year-ender: Apple reveals most downloaded apps, games of 2023 in India; BGMI, JioCinema top the list

Days after announcing the 2023 App Store award winners, Apple is out with a more localised list of the most downloaded apps and games of the year in more than 35 countries and regions globally including India. The list is comprehensive spanning apps and games across free and paid tiers. The best of Apple Arcade games, too, are getting their own separate list. For those unaware, Apple Arcade is a meticulously curated selection of ad-free games under Apple’s One subscription, program that also bundles Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, and iCloud storage under one roof at a starting price of Rs 195 per month.


But coming back to Apple’s findings, the list includes categories breakdown specific to both iPhone and iPad compiling the top 10 apps and games that were most downloaded in 2023. You can access the 2023 charts through the App Store’s Today tab.


“The App Store is the world’s safest and most vibrant app marketplace, recommending the best apps and games to its more than 650 million weekly visitors,” Apple said in a prepared statement sent over email, adding that “With helpfully curated content from the App Store’s team of global editors, the Today, Apps, and Games tabs remain a daily destination for users to discover in-app events, original stories, in-depth interviews, tips and collections through easy-to-browse sections, and personalised content based on their interests.”
