According to WabetaInfo, the latest beta update for iOS, version 24.12.10.74, adds a new feature that could improve how users safeguard their personal images. It blocks someone from taking screenshot of a profile picture.
By preventing the ability to capture screenshots of profile photos, WhatsApp attempts to cut down on the persistent threat of unauthorised image capture. The issue of WhatsApp profile picture screenshotting poses a significant threat to user privacy and security. Once a screenshot is taken, the control over one’s image is compromised, potentially leading to its unauthorised distribution and misuse.
