WhatsApp, one of the leading popular messaging platforms, has consistently been refining and expanding its offerings to cater to the ever-evolving needs of its users. The company has introduced a slew of new features in the past, such as end-to-end encryption, voice and video calls, a view-once feature for images and likewise more. These updates have kept the app relevant and user-friendly.
Now, WhatsApp is gearing up to launch a fresh wave of exhilarating features, aimed at further enhancing user convenience, privacy, and control. According to WaBetaInfo, the chat app is rolling out a new voice-video switch, view once voice messages, and chat lock shortcuts that will take the chat app’s game to a whole new level. Here is what these features are all about.

Voice-Video Switch: One of the standout features to look forward to is the new voice-video switch. This feature allows users to seamlessly switch between sending voice notes and instant video messages. It’s rolling out to Android users. WhatsApp in the same update is also doing away with the toggle for managing instant video messages. This implies that the feature will be permanently activated by default.
View Once Voice Messages: WhatsApp is taking privacy and security to the next level with view once voice messages. Similar to its existing view once feature for images, this allows users to send voice messages that recipients can listen to just once. After that, the message disappears. This feature is available to some beta testers who install the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store and WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app.

Chat Lock Shortcuts: Another feature rolling out is chat lock shortcuts. This feature is available to some beta testers who install the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store and WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app. It allows users to quickly lock chats right from the chat list. WhatsApp has also added a dedicated toggle in the chat info screen.
Search message by date: WhatsApp is working on a helpful feature that will let you search for messages by choosing a specific date. Right now, it’s still in development. In the future, you’ll see a calendar button, which, when clicked, will bring up a date picker. It will make it easier for you to find messages from a particular date.
