An online report suggests that WhatsApp is developing a new feature, granting users control over who can utilise their avatars in stickers. This update aims to enhance privacy by empowering users to manage their avatar’s visibility in sticker form.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s recent iOS beta upgrade unveils an upcoming privacy addition. Media reports suggest that this feature, set to debut in version 24.6.10.74, will enable users to manage the usage of their avatars as stickers, marking an enhancement to the messaging platform’s privacy controls. Currently, WhatsApp intends to introduce three distinct privacy options for managing this feature, namely “My Contacts,” allowing individuals from one’s contacts list to use their avatar, “Selected Contacts,” restricting access to reliable connections, or “Nobody,” an option for users to completely disable this feature.

“With the option to control who can feature their avatar in stickers, users will be able to maintain control over their digital identity, ensuring that only approved contacts can access to feature their avatar stickers. In addition, by empowering users with this control, we believe that WhatsApp underscores its dedication to enhancing privacy and respecting user preferences while also leading a greater sense of trust and security within the platform. A privacy feature to control who can use your avatar in their stickers is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. As always, we will keep providing updates on any further developments regarding this feature until its release,” the report concluded.
