WhatsApp Communities update alert. Now, groups within a WhatsApp community can organise events, facilitating both virtual and in-person gatherings. Additionally, community members can now respond to admin announcements within Community Announcement Groups, for more seamless communication and feedback when needed.
WhatsApp says it has been remarkable to witness how people with shared interests, such as neighbourhood residents, school associations, and hobbyist groups, have been using the communities feature. The new update is aimed to further strengthen community bonds.
WhatsApp Communities update
The introduction of events simplifies the process of planning gatherings within WhatsApp groups, whether it’s scheduling a virtual meeting or a birthday celebration. Any member can create an event, allowing others to RSVP and enabling the entire group to stay informed about it. Event details will be easily accessible on the group’s information page, and members will receive automatic reminders as the event approaches.
Initially, events will be available for groups within Communities, with a gradual rollout to all groups in the coming months.
Moreover, WhatsApp is introducing replies to Announcement Groups, allowing admins to gather feedback. Replies will be grouped together and condensed to provide more context, with notifications muted for all members to minimise disturbing others.
WhatsApp adds that in the upcoming months, it will continue to introduce new features to enhance Communities and group functionality, providing users with additional tools to organise their lives seamlessly within the app.
