Vivo X Fold 3 Pro India launch date has been announced. Vivo will launch its maiden foldable phone in India on June 6, 2024. “We are thrilled to announce that we are expanding our flagship offerings in India – a masterstroke!” Vivo said in a release sent to FE over email.

Vivo is clearly coming to eat Samsung’s lunch, launching the X Fold 3 Pro a good one month before the Galaxy Z Fold 6 breaks cover. But even more importantly, the move signals Vivo’s commitment to expanding its premium offerings in what is right now its biggest smartphone market in terms of volume shipments.

Vivo X Fold 3 Pro — Top, specs, features

The X Fold 3 Pro is designed to be both lightweight and durable. A key feature is its carbon fibre hinge, which weighs just 14.98 grams and is certified by TÜV Rheinland to endure 500,000 folds. The device also boasts IPX8 water resistance.

Spec-wise, the X Fold 3 Pro has an 8.03-inch inner folding display with a resolution of 2,480 x 2,200 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display offers a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The cover display measures 6.53 inches, with a resolution of 1,172 x 2,748 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, matching the inner display’s brightness. Both screens include ultrasonic fingerprint readers for enhanced security.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the X Fold 3 Pro comes in configurations of 16GB RAM paired with either 512GB or 1TB of storage, utilising LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Vivo has also integrated its V3 imaging chip to enhance the phone’s photography capabilities.

The camera setup is robust, featuring a 50-megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.3-inch OmniVision OV50H sensor and an f/1.68 lens with optical image stabilisation. It also includes a 64-megapixel 3x telephoto camera with an OV64B sensor and an f/2.57 lens, alongside a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a Samsung JN1 sensor. Additionally, the device is equipped with dual 32MP front cameras for selfies. While the X Fold 3 Pro includes ZEISS optics, it does not have the T* coating.

The device houses a 5,700mAh battery, supporting 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Another interesting thing to note about the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro India launch is that the foldable will come with Google’s Gemini AI (though the exact model isn’t specified) for running on-device generative AI tasks. Vivo is teasing AI Note Assist, Transcript Assist, and AI Screen Translation features though it isn’t immediately clear how many will be available immediately at launch. All features will require an active Internet connection to work. AI Note Assist and Transcript Assist specifically will additionally require a Vivo account login.
